Born in Edinburgh and educated at George Watson’s College, Roman set up his first business in 1981, at the tender age of 21. A serial entrepreneur, Roman’s business exploits included video, photo and sun bed businesses, before his love of “adrenaline-rush” sports led him to launch Bedlam paintball in 1990.

Roman has overcome some tough challenges to make Bedlam the brand it is today, and the largest paintball operator in Scotland. Strong marketing instincts have underpinned the successful re-brand of Bedlam paintball from a game of “guns and combat” to one of “teamwork and tactics”.

Today Bedlam paintball has a broader appeal to include female, youth and corporate clients. Its nationwide paintball online booking system is set to make profits of £250k in 2008, largely due to Roman’s expertise in consumer marketing techniques, particularly online marketing. In his spare time, Roman indulges his love of the outdoors and adrenaline-rush pastimes through scuba diving, bungee jumping, and snow and water ski-ing. He is also heavily involved in charity work, and once walked the Namibian desert for the Maggie Cancer Centre.
